Ahmad R. Newbold is the Director of Bands at Booker T. Washington Senior High School. Born August 5, 1987 in Miami, Florida he graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music from Florida A&M University. While attending Florida A&M University he studied Saxophone with Mr. Diron Holloway and conducting with Dr. Julian E. White and Dr. Shelby Chipman. During his matriculation at Florida A&M University, Mr. Newbold became a member of the Marching “100” band, during his time in the band Mr. Newbold was deemed worthy of the position of a FAMU Drum Major and later was named the Head Drum Major. While serving as Head Drum Major, Newbold had the esteemed honor of being the student conductor of the band.
Mr. Newbold owes his success to Dr. Julian E. White and Dr. Shelby Chipman, these men served as his mentors throughout his matriculation at Florida A&M University.
As an educator, Mr. Newbold believes that all students can learn. He believes there are obstacles that create barriers, but through faith, guidance, and love anything can be accomplished. As educators, it is our responsibility to encourage students to maintain their focus. There is good in all and we are challenged to bring out the best in students.
His professional affiliations include MENC (Music Educator’s National Conference), FMEA (Florida Music Educator Association), FBA District 16 (Florida Bandmaster’s Association), NEA (National Education Association) and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Ahmad R. Newbold is the 2nd oldest of three children; he has an older brother Cecil Stanley Newbold III and a younger sister Cecily Starr Newbold. He is the nephew of Maud P. Newbold and son of the late Cecil Stanley Newbold Jr.
